Safety |
The safety of all our visitors is paramount. With
over 20 years of experience our exemplary safety record is testament
to the expertise and vigilance of all our staff.
Learning Outside the Classroom
We have ensured that we are amongst the first Residential Centres to
earn the Learning Outside the Classroom accreditation. This
demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensuring that we provide the
highest quality learning outside the classroom. For more information
about this accreditation please visit
www.lotc.org.uk
Equipment Safety
All relevant play and adventurous activity equipment at the Centre
is inspected annually by
ROSPA.
All other equipment, such as kayaks, helmets etc, are checked by
qualified staff on a regular basis in line with recommendations from
the relevant governing bodies.
Our Staff
Every member of staff is CRB checked. They are all fully trained to
carry out their duties within our own Health & Safety guidelines and
tutors are also trained to work within the guidelines of the
appropriate National Governing Body, if applicable.
All activities have undergone thorough Risk Assessments and staff
are trained to operate within the guidelines derived from these. Please
contact us to request copies of the relevant assessments.
First Aid
All groups should travel with their own qualified First Aider and
First Aid equipment. Many of our staff at Hooke
Court are trained in Emergency First Aid. We also have additional
staff with further First Aid qualifications. They will be happy to
assist in an emergency situation.
Fire
All buildings have fire detection systems and all group leaders are
fully briefed on what to do in the event of a fire on the first day
of their visit. A fire drill is conducted on the first night of the
stay.
Group Leaders
Group leaders remain responsible for the members of
their group at all times during their stay at Hooke
Court. Members of Hooke Court staff are available for
advice and assistance at any time. With several resident
members of staff there is always someone on hand to
help. |
