Woodland Survivors
- New for 2010/2011 |
Experience 3 days of ‘living off the land’ as you and
your class develop and refine your bush craft skills.
A fantastic programme of activities, led by a
qualified bush craft specialist, will teach your pupils all they
need to survive in the wild! A great way of developing self-reliance
and personal confidence as well as building your class’s ability to
work together as a team.
A fun set of educational activities which
will bring out the survival instincts in everyone!
Activities include:
Day 1:
AM/PM: Shelter building using a combination
of natural and man-made resources. Work in teams to build a shelter
good enough to sleep in!
Eve: Night Time Challenge or Rural Crafts
Day 2:
AM: Scavenge for wood and build a camp fire.
Once the fire is built prepare your own lunch from a range of
ingredients - add flavour using what you can find in the hedgerows
and on the forest floor!
PM: Trek through Hooke Woods, taking in the
natural sculptures created by Andrew Goldsworthy and the ‘Magic
Tree’. Learn skills such as animal tracking, route finding and
foraging in the woodland environment.
Eve: Camp fire entertainment
Day 3:
AM: Modelling & Trail Laying:
Create and design your own model or sculpture
drawing inspiration and resources from the natural environment.
Set your own coded trails using any natural resources you can find.
