Opened in 1994 by Peter and Mandy
Cooper, Hooke Court remains a small family business where the
quality and safety of the service we provide are still
paramount. With an educational background Mandy has carefully
guided Hooke Court into the 21st Century and has ensured that
the Centre has delivered and will continue to deliver high
quality educational programmes to schools. When Peter and Mandy took on Hooke
Court it was an empty and somewhat derelict group of buildings
which were in need of a great deal of love and attention. Over
the years they have carefully restored the Court, other
buildings and grounds. The latest phase of this labour of love
is the restoration of Firs Pond.
Over the years they have been joined by
their children and spouses in running the Centre. The business
has expanded to include new accommodation and a vast array of
activities which are enjoyed not just by schools but by
families, groups of friends and a range of special interest
groups. The latest venture is the development of 'Aelfric Hall'
which will add a superb function and conference venue to the
site.
The Court has a fascinating
history involving many notable figures through the ages. A
recent excavation of the lawns by Channel 4's Time Team
revealed finds indicating the wealth and importance of
previous owners. The grounds and historical house provide a
truly sensational setting for any holiday - be it for
education or for fun.
